Dawlish Warren Life Saving Club Sponsored Climbing Event
With the generosity of the Quay Climbing Centre, and thanks to the hard work of DWLSC Member and Quay Employee, Leslyn James, DWLSC hosted their sponsored climbing event at the quay, aiming to climb the combined hight of the Three Peaks (The three highest mountains in the UK, Snowdon in Wales, Scarfel Pike in the Lake District and Ben Nevis in Scotland. With the combined hight of all three an astounding 3407m (or 11177.8ft) it looked like a daunting task, but thanks to the huge turn out from trainers, seniors, youths and even nippers! it was made that much easier! With only 4 hours, they club had to average 126 climbs an hour, which to with the slow start looked like an impossible feat, once everyone got themselves limbered up, it got done with just enough time! even climbing higher than they needed too, reaching a remarkable 4200m! Thanks to everyone who came, climbed and lent a hand. The current total raised stands at a very nice £148.33, but with more sponsor money to come in! watch this space. Well done guys!
